ADNOC Distribution to Roll-out Reformulated Low Sulfur Diesel Product from July 2014
ADNOC Distribution is gearing up to launch a reformulated low-sulfur diesel product in the UAE market starting 1 July 2014, following the UAE Cabinet’s decision to standardize the specifications of diesel products as part of updated guidelines announced by Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA).

The new diesel product contains 10 ppm of sulfur and will replace the existing product that contains 500 ppm. This reduction in sulfur levels will significantly reduce carbon emissions from vehicles and mandate vehicle users to install filters and accessories to reduce the discharge of exhaust gases.
The move, implemented in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders, is aligned with ADNOC Distribution’s priority to achieve sustainability and preserve the quality of the environment in the UAE.

The new high quality diesel product contains a significantly lower percentage of sulfur that will reduce carbon emissions and mitigate their harmful effects on the environment. The new diesel product is also fuel efficient and will help boost the performance of vehicle engines.

The new diesel product is anticipated to have a positive impact on the air quality of the UAE’s cities, roads and industrial areas. With the launch of the green product, the UAE will become the first country in the GCC and Middle East to implement the mandatory use of low-sulfur diesel and discontinue the existing product.
