MoU Authorizes Customers to Use Emirates Identity Cards for ADNOC Distribution Transactions

In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser and Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, ADNOC Distribution signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) that will allow customers to use their Emirates Identity card to conduct transactions at the company’s network of service stations, outlets and distribution centers. Inked on the sidelines of the region’s leading petroleum exhibition ADIPEC 2014 in the presence of His Excellency Abdulla Nasser Al Suwaidi, Director General of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the agreement was signed by His Excellency Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO, ADNOC Distribution, and His Excellency Eng Dr Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Director General of EIDA. Reiterating the two entities’ commitment to articulating the UAE Vision 2021 that aims to position the country as a global hub for innovation and smart technology, the partnership will mandate ADNOC Distribution and EIDA to collaborate on research initiatives and jointly develop an integrated communications framework as a pathway to implementing a more coordinated e-communications network. ADNOC Distribution and EIDA will also share knowledge, expertise and best practices to support the development of their respective organizations. In addition, the two organizations will work to facilitate field visits and joint activities that aid organizational development. His Excellency Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri said: “ADNOC Distribution is confident our partnership with the Emirates Identity Authority will help achieve our joint strategic objectives in line with the UAE leadership’s vision to shape smarter government and smart cities. “This partnership comes at a time of transition for ADNOC Distribution as it gears up to launch its ‘smart services program’ in 2015 to redefine the way petroleum products are retailed,” continued Al Dhaheri. “This MoU will facilitate joint initiatives that ensure the integration of innovative technologies and support our quest to provide a seamless, hassle free customer experience. Such partnerships demonstrate ADNOC Distribution’s commitment to endorsing a culture of continuous improvement.” His Excellency Eng Dr Ali Mohamed Al Khouri from Emirates Identity Authority, said: “This agreement is consistent with our strategic 2014-16 plan – serving as a opportunity to expand the scope of services offered by the ID card. We are keen to upgrade services in the public sector as part of our vision to implement an advanced management system that contributes to our economic transition. “We remain at the forefront of enabling a smart government, and strategic upgrades such as electronic link projects and digital certification, support this commitment.
