ADNOC Distribution to Regulate Sale of LPG Cylinders in Service Stations across Abu Dhabi Emirate

Limiting subsidised LPG cylinders purchase only to Rahal e-Gas pre-paid cardholders

ADNOC Distribution today announced the regulation of sale of subsidised LPG cylinders in Abu Dhabi through limiting their purchase only to Rahal e-Gas pre-paid cardholders over the next weeks. The move is in line with the UAE’s vision of aligning all of its functions with smart services that will ensure safer, easier and faster service to our customers within the network. Those without a Rahal e-gas card will be able to buy LPG cylinders by paying in cash or with bank cards at non-subsidised rates. Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of ADNOC Distribution, said: “We, at ADNOC Distribution, are keen to introduce initiatives in line with the UAE’s vision of smart government and services.” Al Dhaheri added: “Introducing Rahal e-Gas cards aims to rationalise the use of gas consumption, ensuring that customers benefit from the subsidised prices. In the next few weeks, ADNOC Distribution will launch an awareness campaign on LPG cylinders’ new procedure and the mechanism of applying for Rahal e-Gas cards and will provide further details for all the categories of customers across Abu Dhabi Emirate.” “ADNOC Distribution will grant customers sufficient time to register for Rahal e-Gas cards, prior to restricting sales at service stations,” Al Dhaheri added. The categories of customers that benefit from subsidised cylinders include UAE families, UAE singles, expat families and expat singles. Based on findings related to average monthly LPG consumption, the company has set specific quotas for all the four categories. Once the campaign starts, the application and issuance of cards will be done through the company’s six Rahal centres: ADNOC Distribution Head Office in Abu Dhabi; Rahal centres at Airport Road service station, Musaffah station and Khalifa City station; Al Ain Regional Office; and Western Region centre in Madinat Zayed. Customers will also be able to apply for these cards at 97 service stations across Abu Dhabi Emirate, which include 52 outlets in Abu Dhabi, 27 in Al Ain and 18 in the Western Region. Customers will be encouraged to use the online application via www.adnocdistribution.ae, as a faster and more convenient way to get the card. Once the online application is completed and approved, customers will receive SMS to visit the nearest service station or Rahal Centre and collect the card by presenting original documents. To apply for a five-year valid Rahal e-Gas card, Emiratis need to present the following documents: Emirates ID, and a choice of one of the three documents proving they are residents in Abu Dhabi - either a ‘To Whom It May Concern Certificate’ from Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA), or a Tawtheeq tenancy contract, or a tittle deed. Emirati families need to also present their family book. Expatriate families and singles may apply for a one-year valid card by presenting the following documents: Emirates ID, and a choice of the following three documents proving they are Abu Dhabi residents – either a’ To Whom It May Concern Certificate’ from ADWEA, or a Tawtheeq tenancy contract, or a title deed. The company will also use various means of communication, including advertising in national dailies, radio, service stations and via ADNOC Distribution website to raise awareness about the new service. This will ensure that customers get all relevant information regarding the subsidised gas cylinders’ regulation project, quotas allocated for each category of customers, and the required documents to apply for the Rahal e-Gas card. First time registration for Rahal e-Gas card is free. Modification of card data as well as replacement of lost and damaged cards will cost AED50. Rahal e-Gas card can only be used within Abu Dhabi Emirate service station network, while renewal can only be done at Rahal centres subject to valid application submission. Customers can use these cards to purchase subsidised gas cylinders from service stations with great convenience and efficiency. ADNOC Distribution aims to regulate the sale of LPG cylinders for commercial customers through a specialised commercial sales division. Customers can call the toll free number 800300 or visit www.adnocdistribution.ae to obtain more information about the new service.
