ADNOC Distribution appoints new acting CEO - Mr. Ahmed Al Shamsi
The Board of Directors of ADNOC Distribution has appointed Mr. Ahmed Al Shamsi as its new Acting Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Al Shamsi took his new role on 5 January 2020. Mr. Al Shamsi replaced Mr. Saeed Mubarak Al Rashdi who stepped down to take up a new role with the ADNOC Group.
The Board would like to thank Mr. Al Rashdi for his leadership and being instrumental in helping take ADNOC Distribution public and delivering the company’s strong results.
The Board is pleased to welcome Mr. Al Shamsi as the Company’s new Acting Chief Executive Officer. He brings with him extensive experience in the Oil & Gas downstream sector and a strong track record of delivering key strategic initiatives across international markets in his previous roles. The Board is confident that his diverse experience will add value to ADNOC Distribution over the next phase of its growth, reaffirming its place as the UAE’s largest fuel and convenience retailer and delivering expansion in international markets.
Mr. Al Shamsi started his career in 1999 as Process Engineer at Abu Dhabi Gas Company (ADNOC-ATHEER). In 2001, he moved to the Industrial Development Fund where he took up the position of Project Manager till 2007, when he joined Borouge.
Born in 1977, Al Shamsi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tulsa, USA. He also holds a Master’s degree in Quality Management (MQM) from the University of Wollongong. Mr. Al Shamsi is a UAE national.
